John Breen photo

John Breen, a native of Arklow, County Wicklow Ireland, has a pure powerful singing style traditional of the likes of the legendary Ronnie Drew infused with a bit of Ernest Tubb and Johnny Cash thrown in for good measure. A passionate singer of well known Irish as well as his original songs, combined with an intriguing blend of contemporary Celtic music, John Breen comes from a pedigree musical background.

John Breens' debut self titled album, comprised of vocalist/guitarist John Breen and his band Finan, was a compelling tribute to Irish ballad tradition. His second Album "Old Men In Hats" was released in 2012 by Emphasis Records in the USA. "Old Men In Hats" is the summation of the Celtic Nation as a whole.

On his new album "Origins", John Breen explores this journey of the origins of Celtic music and its evolution. "Origins" traverses the Celtic exodus to America and the pockets of Irish settlers in the Appalachian Mountains, down a melodic path combining Celtic music with Bluegrass, Old-Time Country, Southern Gospel, Contemporary Country, and Folk music. Singing his way from the Wicklow Mountains to the Appalachian Mountains, and bringing it all back home again.

From traditional favorites to original songs, John Breen impels young and old alike to follow him on a wonderful musical journey.

John Breen : I Still Believe
Genre: Celtic/Folk

John Breen Old Men In Hats album cover

"I Still Believe" is the first single from the anticipated forthcoming John Breen album "Origins". This new contemporary Celtic/Folk single is a perfect example of what John Breen does so well. Emotional pay-dirt. His powerful Irish voice carries us through a lyric that hints at life's struggles, yet the mood is uplifting in recognition of the power in believing. Excellent production, melodically brilliant, smooth vocals.

With lyric by award-winning Charlotte Hannon, produced and engineered by Stevie Hawkins (Daryle Singletary, Doug Stone), and backlit with multi-instrumental work by Tim Crouch (Alan Jackson, Rhonda Vincent), the violins and mandolin set the mood while the tin whistle and Celtic harp create a distinctly Irish atmosphere. The overall warm lush sounds carry us right along until we too find ourselves believing.
